We've mapped the world according to coffee consumption per capita – and perhaps unsurprisingly the Finns are the biggest fans of a cup of Joe. They drink an impressive 12kg per person per year, according to stats from the International Coffee Organisation.  Perhaps it's something about the cold Scandinavian air and short days that makes the Finnish consume so much coffee, as Norway, Iceland, Denmark and Sweden are all big consumers too. The UK only drinks 2.8kg of coffee per year - about a cup a day, and ranks 46th globally. The world's 20 biggest coffee drinkers (in kg per capita per year) Finland - 12 Norway - 9.9 Iceland - 9 Denmark - 8.7 Netherlands - 8.4 Sweden - 8.2 Switzerland - 7.9 Belgium - 6.8 Luxembourg - 6.5 Canada - 6.2 Bosnia and Herzegovina - 6.1 Austria - 5.9 Italy - 5.8 Slovenia - 5.8 Brazil - 5.5 Germany - 5.5 Greece - 5.4 France - 5.1 Croatia - 4.9 Cyprus - 4.8 The UK ranking low in coffee consumption is likely due to Brits consumption of tea. The UK drinks 1.95 kilograms of tea per person per year, ranking third globally after Turkey and Ireland. Tea consumption per country: Ireland - 2.18 UK - 1.95 Russia - 1.39 Morroco - 1.18 New Zealand - 1 Egypt - 1 Poland - 1 Japan - 0.95 Saudi Arabia - 0.86 South Africa - 0.77 Netherlands - 0.77 Australia - 0.73 Chile - 0.73 UAE - 0.68 Germany - 0.68 Hong Kong - 0.64 Ukraine - 0.59 China - 0.55 Canada - 0.55 Source: indy100.com/article/map-countries-drink-most-coffee-7685421
