Angola port to boost coffee exports
A commercial deep-water port will be built in Angola’s Porto Amboim in the Kwanza Sul province. It will be built in three phases between 2017 and 2024 and will be located in the Torre-do-Tombo area, on the outskirts of the city, in an area measuring 80 hectares.
The initial phase will see $500 million invested, which will increase to $1.8 billion by the time the project is fully completed.
The port will have a draft of around 12m and be 500m long, with a depth of 14.5 metres. Initially, two ships will be able to enter at the same time, rising to around seven ships on completion.
The port is designed to facilitate exports of cotton and coffee from Angola.
