96.5% of Italians Drink Coffee

Coffee is the National Drink ofItalians , according to a study conducted by Astra Ricercheconducted for the Coffee Promotion consortium released onTuesday.
The study said 96.5% of Italians between the ages 18 and 65drink coffee, with men from Italy's Piedmont and Lombardyregions representing majority of coffee drinkers.
Italian coffee culture has created three categories ofconsumers, according to the report: weak, one to two cups daily(36%), medium, two to three cups daily (36%) and heavy, morethan three cups daily (27%). The report detailed that 89% drinkcoffee at home and 75% in a bar.
More than half of people surveyed said they would nevergive it up.
Astra Ricerche presented its survey at the launch of theCoffe Break Festival, a May 20 to 22 coffee-centric eventprogram in Florence.
