Last week (on December 14th and 16th) KLD Coffee Importers held a seminar We learn to compare coffee . This event was organized for visitors of fair PIR (FEAST): anyone who was willing to join was given the opportunity not only to visit, but also to take part in these unordinary classes. Participants of a seminar could try themselves as apprentice-cuptester and receive answers to any of intriguing questions. Arabica and Robusta from various countries of Origin were offered for comparative cupping: Uganda Robusta, Scr.18; Brazil Arabica Santos, NY2, Scr.17/18, FC; Colombia Arabica Supremo, Scr.17/18 and Colombia Arabica Colombia, Decaf. Educational site was big enough to accommodate 40 attendees simultaneously. During the seminar participants were told about the way which a coffee cherry undergoes from the tree to the cup. In order to make this more illustrative, there were presented pictures of various stages of coffee production, samples of coffee beans, both green and roasted. There were a lot of questions, such as which coffee is better, which way is better to store roasted coffee, to grind it, to prepare perfect beverage out of it, etc. Hosts answered all question in a comprehensible manner and explained that the best coffee for the person is the one which tastes best of all for this exact person and that it is very important to make sure that your coffee is freshly roasted. Specialists of the company gave the comments based on their own knowledge and experience, and in reply to questions from participants regarding any specific brands emphasized that the purpose of the seminar is a promotion of coffee as a product. Andrey Elson (CEO of the company which organized the seminar) stated that people came deliberately and were very active in discussion: “The happening has pleased everybody and brought only positive emotions! All parties felt satisfied: those who participated and those who organized and hosted the event.” Source: coffeetea.ru
