Chinese researchers suggest drinking green tea to quit smoking habit
Chinese researchers are out with another big discovery and this time the news favors all those smokers or nicotine abusers, who are willing to quit their habits and live a higher quality of life.
In their recent announcements, researchers from China are suggesting people to drink more of green tea if they are willing to get over their nicotine urge. The findings have also gained positive reactions from medical professionals in Kerala.
Above are the findings of a recently performed study named as `A Revolutionary Approach for the Cessation of Smoking`, which is published in Science China Life Sciences, a peer-reviewed open-access journal.
During the study, researchers used custom-developed cigarettes added with components of green tea to work as filters with an aim to treat addiction of the user to smoking.
Explaining about the whole experiment, Mr. Phinse Philip, a lecturer in the Community Oncology Division of the Malabar Cancer Centre, said, "The oral intake of the amino acid L-Theanine, uniquely found in green tea, is known to have anti-stress effects and acts as a relaxing agent”. He added that green tea could work as an alternative to help the smoker quit his addictive habit.
Pharmacotherapy, one like a nicotine replacement therapy, had been seen positively effective in helping smokers quit the habit and thus researchers are suggesting drinking green tea for such benefits.
